RC Weaver: Pilot to Palette is his latest book (released 2024), The Pilots of Thunderbird Field and A Pilot’s Passion: Baseball Travels the World and Pilots of Thunderbird Field all were created out of Scott’s passions – baseball, art and flying. Besides family, aviation history and the adventures of international baseball are two subjects that are explored throughout both of his books and now his father's passion for art.
The Pilots of Thunderbird Field was a historical view of Scott's grandfather who trained pilots, including Chinese cadets, during WWII and all the pilots he impacted throughout his life. A Pilot’s Passion, Scott brings in intriguing contributions from others in both the aviation and baseball worlds while he and his son open up about their struggles with mental health issues. Baseball and softball lovers will certainly enjoy the stories from Scott and other baseball personalities from around the world as well as hardships with mental health and some lessons learned while playing baseball and flying jets. He's latest book explores the incredible journey of RC "Doc" Weaver, delving into his life as a pilot and artist. It's a celebration of his passion for both the skies and the world of art.
Flight Experience.
Lt. Col. Scott Weaver, a third-generation pilot and aviation historian, has over 2,600 hours of instructor and fighter time. He was a T-38A Instructor at Vance AFB, Oklahoma, and later went on to fly as an F-16C Fighter pilot at Hahn Air Base, West Germany. He was also with the DC Air National Guard at Andrews AFB, Maryland. He flew two tours in support of missions in Iraq. He also was a USAF Flight Safety and Accident Investigator. He retired from the Air Force in 2004.
Other Endeavors.
When not flying, writing, or doing research, he is involved with international baseball – supporting youth, club, and professional/club teams in the US, England, and Argentina. As Scott will tell you, one of his bucket list goals, as he approaches retirement, is to stay involved with international baseball and coach in Europe. In 1999, Scott started LB Aero Development, as an advanced flight trainer in the British Bulldog. He consulted for corporate jet, general aviation sales, airport development and enjoyed public speaking – performing motivational speaking engagements with various corporate entities. Scott worked as a public speaker with Lt. Col. "Waldo" Waldman and his Wingman team based near Atlanta, Georgia. Currently, Scott is involved with the Folds of Honor non-profit group (501c-3) which helps provide educational scholarships to spouses and children of America's fallen and disabled service-members. Scott and his team are hosting it's first annual golf event at PB Dye Golf Club in Ijamsville, Md with hopes of opening a Washington D. C. chapter in 2025.
Other interests. Scott enjoys golf, hunting, and supporting important mental health issues, like bipolar disorder. He'll continue to fly the 787, hopefully for a few more years as well as his RV-8, based in his hometown of Albuquerque (KAEG), New Mexico. Scott is married, with two adult children living in NC and a 17-year daughter at Churchill HS in Maryland. He lives outside of Washington D.C., in Potomac, Maryland and will retire to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
